The Accident

Andrew Fiscus is my little brother. Granted he is taller than me, probably weighs more than me and could probably bench press a grizzly bear, but to me, he'll always be my little brother. Recently, around 9 pm on Thursday, May 21st, Andrew was involved in a motorcycle accident. He and a couple of friends were riding on 49, and the road got the best of him. Thank god he was wearing his helmet because I believe it saved his life. He was taken to the hospital and unfortunately for Andrew, he has 2 broken collar bones, a broken shoulder blade, a broken arm, and very bad road rash. He's alive though, so that's most important. His surgeon told him that in all of his 15 years of experience, he has never seen injuries so severe, nor has he seen injuries to this extent without the patient also suffering a broken neck. We are all counting our blessings that Andrew is not worse off. However, Andrew presently cannot move either of his arms and will be laid up for approximately the next 6-12 months. During this time, he has decided to go back to school and for the time being, his interest is in (ironically) physical therapy. Everything happens for a reason and perhaps this was the kick in the butt that Andrew needed. We are all very happy that Andrew is going to be ok, but unfortunately Andrew does not have health insurance and has already depleted the insurance available through his vehicle. I know the economy sucks right now, but if you are able to donate even $1, every little bit will help.
